Headmaster's Message
#6 2020/21

Friday 13 November 2020

Dear Community Members,

“In the past what we have traditionally done is …” or “Last year we did...”.

How often do we use these sentences these days? Under the current circumstances all activities and events are a ‘first’ for all of us this year. As I have often said to students and to myself to be honest, “things (life) happens, how you react to the ‘things’ is the important part, this is what will define you.”

Coping and adapting to the situation we are in, as a community, is important. I used the acronym ‘SCUP’ on many occasions. Safety, Cooperation, Understanding, Patience.

What we have traditionally done in the past will have to change, is changing. We will be successful if we can be kind with one another, realise that we are in an experimental phase until we go through the many ‘firsts’ of this year.

Parent Consultations

Reports will be published on MySchool at 16:00 today. Remember to pay a lot of attention to the comments that the teacher has written about your child. Many of the children are new to teachers, we have had them for six weeks under the most trying of circumstances, all getting accustomed to one another in unusual times.

Parent Consultations will be held on November 20th. Whilst teachers would like to meet all parents this is not logistically possible in many classes. Teachers will be contacting the parents of students where the teacher feels that an exchange of information would be helpful.

Remember that students will not be in school on the 20th as is customary. There will be no lessons on that day.

You will be receiving an invitation from teachers over the coming days.

The meeting should not go on for longer that 7 minutes. As in past years, we all need to abide by the times sent to you by teachers.

Prize Day

Prize day is scheduled for November 27th. We cannot do as we have in past years. I am in consultation with SMT, teachers and Administration to look at what we might be able to do for this traditionally significant day at St Edward's. More information to follow.

Quiz

Guess which SEC sports team the below image is of and also see if you can identify any friends/ family.
