Year 4Y

Welcome back to the 4Y classroom, we have been very busy having lots of fun😊.

“Learning should always be fun. You should be having a ball. It’s amazing how much you remember when it is fun” Dan Grable

Since the last 4Y gazette article we have put our brains into Ancient Greek Architect mode and drew and built our own columns in three different styles; Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. Phidias would have been so proud of the creativity and designs of these spectacular columns created by the 4Y boys.

We really enjoyed dressing up for carnival and it was even more exciting because we had a special online meeting with our pen pals in the Czech Republic. We showed them our cool costumes and shared a few interesting facts about how we celebrate carnival in Malta. Talking about ‘prinjolata’ and ‘perlini’ made our mouths water.

After that we took advantage of the beautiful weather and the fantastic SEC grounds and gardens and went on a photograph treasure hunt using our new learnpads. It was great fun searching high and low for the list of unusual treasures. Dr. Suess inspired us with this quote; “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”

It is such a pleasure being the teacher for these curious gentleman. I am frequently asked a number of intriguing and unusual questions. Therefore, we have created a question board in our classroom where we can ask and answer all of the quizzical questions we come up with.

  • Do you know what the longest word in English is?

It is ‘pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis’, which refers to a lung disease contracted from the inhalation of very fine silica particles, specifically from a volcano.

We are always up to something in 4Y. We accept challenges, problem solve, create, make, design, invent and dream out loud. It is all about embracing the learning and connecting it to our world. And we are always happy to share the journey with you, thank you for reading.
