Extra Curricular

St Edward’s College focuses on the character building and development of its pupils. A model Edwardian is an all-rounder and is expected to excel in several fields. It is for this reason that our boys are encouraged to participate in as many extracurricular activities as possible, since we believe that a wholesome education consists of a well-balanced combination of academic, sportive, and cultural activities. We therefore offer a variety of break-time as well as after-school activities for boys of various ages in order to make their learning experience at St Edward’s both memorable and enjoyable.

Summer School

Each summer, St Edward’s College opens its doors to offer a vibrant and engaging Summer School programme for children from Nursery age to pre-teens. Set within the safe and picturesque grounds of the college, our Summer School blends the best of learning, play, and exploration in a warm and welcoming environment.

Designed to nature creativity, curiosity, and social development, the programme includes a wide range of activities suited to various age groups. From arts and crafts to science experiments, sports, swimming, and music, every day is packed with exciting opportunities for children to try new things, build confidence, and make lasting friendships.

The Summer School is led by experienced educators and facilitators who ensure that each child is supported, encouraged, and inspired throughout their time with us. Learning takes place through play and interactive experiences, helping children stay mentally active while having fun during the summer break.

With small group sizes, excellent facilities, and a focus on both individual attention and team-building. St Edward’s Summer School offers a safe and stimulating environment where children feel happy and at home.

Whether you are looking to enrich your child’s summer with fun learning experiences or to introduce them to the St Edward’s community, our Summer School provides the prefer balance of structure, creativity, and adventure.

Join us this summer – where every child is invited to learn, grow, and shine.

After School Activities

At St Edward’s College, learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends. Our after-school programme offers a wide range of engaging activities that support students’ personal growth, creativity, and well-being.

From energetic sports like tennis and taekwondo to thought STEM workshops, students are encouraged to explore their interests and develop new skills in a safe and supportive environment. These sessions promote discipline, teamwork, and confidence while keeping students active and intellectually stimulated.

For those seeking spiritual development, Catechism classes are also offered as part of our commitment to holistic education, nurturing not just the mind and body but also the heart and spirit.

With something to suit every interest, our after-school programme complements the academic curriculum and helps students become well-rounded individuals. Whether through sport, science, or faith, every child finds a place to grow beyond the classroom at St Edward’s.

Maltese Language for Foreigners

At St Edward’s College, we understand the importance of helping all students feel at home – not just in the classroom, but within the broader Maltese community. To support our international students, we offer dedicated after-school Maltese lessons for foreigners, designed to help non-native speakers build confidence in understanding and using the Maltese language.

These lessons focus on practical communication skills, vocabulary, and everyday conversation, making it easier for students to integrate both socially and culturally. Taught in a friendly, encouraging environment by experienced language teachers, the sessions cater to different age groups and language levels.

Whether your child is completely new to Maltese or looking to improve their basic skills, these lessons provide the foundation needed to navigate daily life in Malta with ease. Our goal is to ensure that every student feels included, empowered, and able to connect meaningfully with their surroundings.

Live-In and Travel Abroad

At St Edward’s College, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. From Year 6 onwards, students are given the opportunity to participate in an annual live-in experience – an exciting overnight stay on campus designed to build independence, teamwork, and personal responsibility in a fun and supportive setting. These live-ins are often a student’s first taste of life away from home and play a key role in strengthening friendships and building confidence.

Beginning in Year 7, students can also look forward to international educational trips that bring learning to life in remarkable ways. Past destinations have included Sicily, Paris, London, and unforgettable memories with their peers and teachers.

These carefully planned experiences are both educational and enriching, promoting global awareness, cultural appreciation, and a sense of adventure. Whether exploring ancient ruins, visiting world-class museums, or navigating a new city, students return with broadened perspectives and lasting inspiration.

At St Edward’s, we see travel as a powerful learning tool – one that helps shape well-rounded, curious, and globally minded young people ready to take on the world.
