INCO – Our Inclusivity Programme

At St Edward’s College, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to welcome students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, nationalities, and abilities – creating a rich, diverse, and respectful school community where every child is valued and supported. From Early Years through to Sixth Form, we foster an environment that celebrates individuality and encourages students to embrace their differences as strengths. Our dedicated educators are committed to recognising the unique potential in every learner, and we offer personalised support to ensure all students can access the full curriculum and thrive, both academically and personally. We believe that a truly global education must reflect the world we live in – one that teaches empathy, understanding, and collaboration. Our students benefit from learning in an atmosphere where cultural exchange and mutual respect are part of everyday life, helping them grow into open-minded, compassionate individuals. Whether a child needs additional learning support or is excelling in a particular area, we provide the tools, resources, and guidance to help them succeed. At St Edward’s College, every student belongs. Here, diversity is not just welcomed – it is celebrated.

Inclusion Is In Our Genes

At St Edward’s College, Malta, we recognise that each child learns differently – and we see this as a strength, not a challenge. Our commitment to inclusive education means that students with special educational needs are fully integrated into the life of the school, receiving the support they need to flourish both academically and personally.

We offer a safe, understanding, and flexible learning environment where individual differences are not only accommodated but also embraced. With a dedicated team of learning support specialists, our staff work closely with families to develop tailored strategies that respond to each student’s unique profile, helping them grow in confidence, resilience, and independence.

Support at St Edward’s is not confined to the classroom. It extends across every aspect of school life – from social integration to emotional wellbeing – ensuring that all students are actively involved in the wider school community. We believe that every child has the right to a meaningful and fulfilling education. At St Edward’s, our goal is to remove barriers to learning and to celebrate the progress of every student, no matter how small.

Here, inclusion is not an add-on – it’s part of who we are.

Personalised Support

• Designing and overseeing Individual Educational Programmes (IEPs) for students with special needs
• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and professionals to ensure effective and consistent support
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting strategies as needed
• Providing guidance and training to staff on inclusive practices

Learning Support Educators (LSEs)

Under the guidance of the INCO, our Learning Support Educators:

• Assist classroom teachers in adapting lessons and materials
• Offer one-to-one or small group support within the classroom setting
• Help students develop learning strategies, independence, and confidence
• Foster inclusion by encouraging active participation in all areas of school life

Empowering Every Learner

At St Edward’s College, we believe that empowerment begins with understanding – understanding each student’s abilities, challenges, and aspirations. Our goal is to help every learner develop the skills, confidence, and resilience they need to succeed not only in school, but in life beyond the classroom. We do this by creating a learning environment that is both inclusive and inspiring. Students with special educational needs are encouraged to engage actively in all aspects of school life, including academics, co-curricular activities, and social events. With the right support in place, these students are not simply accommodated – they are empowered to reach their full potential.

Empowerment means:

• Encouraging independent thinking and self-advocacy, so that students learn to take ownership of their learning
• Providing opportunities to build self-esteem and a sense of achievement, no matter how big or small the milestone
• Supporting the development of life skills that foster autonomy, communication, and adaptability
• Nurturing positive relationships with peers and staff to promote a sense of belonging and emotional well-being

Through our inclusive practices, we create a community where every student feels seen, heard, and respected. Our ultimate aim is to help each learner discover their own strengths and confidently take their place in the world – equipped, empowered, and ready.
