Headmaster's Message

Friday 20 November 2020

Dear Community Members,

Parent Consultations

I hope you all had a good interaction with teachers and LSEs during Parent Consultations.

As I have often said we will achieve a great education when the three legs of the stool are balanced. The teacher, the parent, and the student. Remember we are all trying for the same outcome but coming from different perspectives. Once we listen to one another we will be successful.

Prize Day

Next week on Friday we will have our annual Prize Day. This will be different from other years. Apart from the fact that all speeches will be pre-recorded, we will have a very special guest speaker. We will also have addresses from the College Captain and the Chairman of the Board of Governors.

Because of the absence of formal summative examinations this past year, we will not be giving prizes for the ‘best in class’ for the different subjects. We will however have recognition for the students with such prestigious awards as the ‘Antoine Cachia Caruana Prize for public spirit’, ‘The Old Edwardian Medal’, the ‘SEPTA Prize for Altruism’ to mention but a few.

Like so many events this year we are all learning. There is no ‘playbook’, nothing that can be pulled off the shelf. We are all having to do things differently. I know that many of us just wish that we could get back to ‘normal’ but the truth is that by being adaptable, innovative and creative, traits we have as humans, we will adjust and be successful.

Be kind and patient with one another.

Sincerely,
Mr Nollaig Mac an Bhaird
