Young Parliamentarians

Monday 25 May 2020

The Project Young Parliamentarian that started during this scholastic year in collaboration with Agenzija Zghazagh, is reaching its final stages. The students had a number of training sessions in break with our key youth worker – Mr. Roderick Borg and our school link teacher and Head of Extra Curricular Activities Ms. Samantha Abela. Last week ,they had a Teams meeting to practice a ‘debate’ and last Friday the students from Year 9 and Year 10 had a final online training session before their ultimate debate against another school next week.

The students were super excited to be back at debating. They revised the key terminology learnt, got to know the procedure that will be used during the debate, as well as learnt some strategies for good debating. With 10 students, St Edward’s College has one of the largest groups taking part in this programme.

Young Parliamentarians is offering the students the opportunity not only to improve in public speaking but to do so in Maltese. It is a great initiative for all those who are not shy from speaking up in public and for the future leaders of our country.
