The science of colour

How many colours does black have? And blue? And green? These were the questions which the Year 8s attempted to answer in their science classes. There they learned about chromatography which is a technique used to separate the colours using the medium of ink. During this lesson, they have also learnt about what solvents are as well as the meaning of solubility.  Students used water as a solvent and understood that the more soluble the colour is, the further upwards the colour heads onto the filter paper.

And the pretty colours were a bonus as well!
