As part of the emergent curriculum development, every class kicked off its topic with a ‘web’. This holds ideas the children share about the topic itself and any questions they wish to learn about. This is a living document that carries on evolving throughout the topic development. Our nursery Y class chose their topic following frequent mention of rain the past few days. The teacher then assisted and prompted their thoughts with questions and pictures. This lead to the children expressing keywords and then adding their personal touches of ideas to the web. Learning is most definitely a collaboration.
