Year 4X Celebrating
World Book day

Friday 6 March 2020

Apart from learning new interesting words, reading allows you to grow your imagination, develop your thoughts, and expand your knowledge. Every year, this is celebrated all around the world, to promote the awareness of how valuable a book is.

To celebrate World Book day, each boy from Year 4 X, brought to life a character from their favourite book. Using the descriptive words in the book, their imagination and their creativity, the boys transformed a potato into a character. On this day, each boy took it in turn to show-and-tell. With great enthusiasm, each boy gave a brief description of the book, explained why they decided to dress up their potato in such a manner and why they grew an affinity to their chosen book. The class then discussed the love and benefit of reading. They delved into the understanding of how the descriptive words in the book help us make a mental picture of the character and make the words come to life. The boys enjoyed hearing the different books their peers read and were more than eager to exchange book titles and authors.

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt Disney
