Young Chefs Financial Literacy Challenge.

Take care of yourself, take care of your money!

Earlier this month boys in year 4,5 and 6 were invited to take part in the Financial Literacy Challenge 2021 – Young Chef Challenge as part of the European Money Week and Global Money Week.

The aim of the challenge was to promote awareness pertaining to financial capabilities and included elements of science, literacy, accounting and IT.

The aims included the acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours needed to make sound financial decisions and eventually attain financial well-being and financial resilience.

The boys had to create a healthy low-cost food item with emphasis on at least one of the following areas: seasonality, sustainability, local and traditional food.

The theme was- take care of yourself, take care of your money!

The participants are invited to plan and prepare a savoury or sweet low-cost food item with emphasis on at least one of the following areas: seasonality, sustainability, local and traditional food.

They then created a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate the process.

Three of our boys, Thomas Gatt and Noah Houghton from year 4 and Samuel Schiavone, year 5

were lucky enough to be shortlisted and joined the European Money week finals online.

Thomas and Noah were awarded prize vouchers.

We are proud of our boys and their detailed PowerPoint presentations. The finished food looked absolutely delicious and the boys really enjoyed the extra challenge.

Congratulations to future chefs!
