Last week’s art topic –
French artist Henri Matisse

This week’s art topic was about famous French artist Henri Matisse, pronounced ‘ahn-ree’ ‘ ma-teece’ . Matisse was a very successful painter who decided to try out a new way of creating art. Instead of painting, he began to cut out pieces of painted paper and arrange them into beautiful collages.

Actually as Matisse would say, ’we are going to draw with our scissors and play with colours’. Furthermore similar to our situation due to Covid-19, Matisse had to spend quite some time at home due to medical complications but this did not stop him.

Ms Lisa was inspired by his famous cut-outs at the MoMa and thought this would be a brilliant lesson for fine motor skills such as cutting shapes and forms. Have a look at the video below to see what our talented students came up with!
