Making Friends

For young children, particularly those who are without siblings, coming to school for the first time can be traumatic. None of us remember how we felt when our umbilical cord was severed, though scientists tell us that it is quite a tough experience. Coming to school and leaving family and safety behind must be at least comparable. Making friends is not only a social skill it is also an act of bravery. Love of animals, shared skills and companionable enjoyment all make for good platforms for friendship.
