The Year 11 History Class, started the lesson with a twist. Student, Isaac Schembri shared with the class the song “The Russians” by Sting. The song was written at the time of the Cold War. The students, who are currently studying this topic, used the song to do an analysis of the historical references and imagery and create a class discussion about prescription.
A lyric of the song that stood out to the students because unfortunately it is still relevant today was ” we have the same biology regardless of ideology”. Even though the Cold War ended, many other wars still exist that are spearheaded by differences in ideology and intolerance.
